Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of English/Rhetoric-Composition

Overview:

The Department of Arts, Sciences, and Business at Kansas State University Salina invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English/Rhetoric-Composition beginning August 2014.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be prepared to develop and teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses in the area of Rhetoric-Composition in support of the degree programs at K-State Salina.  The candidate will also coordinate the Expository Writing Program.  Candidates will also be expected to maintain an active program of scholarship in their area of specialization that will culminate in peer-reviewed publication venues, and to provide service to the department, campus, and university. 

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in English/Rhetoric-Composition completed by August 2014 required.  Also required:  demonstrated excellence in teaching and evidence of research and publication potential in composition-rhetoric. 

Preferred qualifications

Interest in writing program development, assessment of student learning outcomes, composition theory.  Experience with Writing Centers.

Submit a one-page cover letter, a current curriculum vita, a one-page statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation.  Documentation of teaching excellence should include up to six student evaluations, and may include peer review of syllabi and related materials, a teaching portfolio and or other relevant evidence of effective teaching praxis (practice).  Please keep any documentation of teaching as concise as possible.
