Internships & Projects

Internships & Projects

Internships and special projects are a great way to engage students and connect them with your organization.

Our degree programs are always looking for real-world projects from employers for our students to work on solutions for. Whether you've got a specific problem you want tackled, a special project you need assistance with, or an innovative product, idea, or process you want tested, we would love to partner with you! Contact the Director of Career Services to start collaborating today.

An internship is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Not only are internships an effective and inexpensive recruiting tool, they also provide employers the opportunity to get a head start in training and evaluating future prospective employees while they are working for the organization, which can lead to a significant reduction in the costs associated with finding new talent. More importantly, student interns are more likely to pursue and accept full-time positions with the organization they intern with.

Benefits to hosting an intern:

  • A fresh perspective offered by students who can bring innovative ideas, cutting-edge skillsets, and current technological know-how developed through their coursework
  • Find future talent
  • Increase visibility and brand recognition on K-State campuses
  • Enhance the diversity of your organization
  • Influence the direction of your industry or profession by contributing to the professional development and mentorship of future leaders and workforce personnel
  • Lower costs of recruiting and hiring employees
  • Increase productivity
  • Can be short-term (1-2 weeks) or long-term (up to a year)

Career Services will work with you to design an internship, micro-internship, or co-op experience to meet the needs of your business or organization. We will also help facilitate the recruitment and hiring process of our students for the position. If you are interested in hosting an intern, contact the Director of Career Services to start an internship program today!
