Dan Sloat is Founder of the Advanced Air Mobility Institute, a 501c3 nonprofit research center dedicated to educating and advocating for the broadest public benefit through the aviation ecosystem. Dan is a global top 100 AAM industry leader according to eVTOL Insights Powerbook and earned Community Engagement Team of the Year 2024. As the incoming President of Electro.Aero, he will champion international development of reliable electric aviation charging networks.

At the inaugural AAM Symposium hosted by ICAO, the United Nations’ aviation agency, Dan was a featured Keynote Speaker. Previously, he led an American vertiport company as CEO. As a United States Air Force Captain, he earned a Humanitarian Service Medal for his efforts to aid refugees in Syria. After his military commitment, Dan earned a Masters in Economics, a Masters in Business Administration, and a Juris Doctor. Dan is an adjunct professor of Advanced Air Mobility at the University of Arkansas, a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and sits on the World Economic Forum AVIATE committee to advise on the future of autonomous flight.

Lauren Haertlein is Deputy General Counsel, Policy & Regulatory at Joby Aviation, a California-based transportation company developing an all-electric, vertical take-off and landing aircraft. Prior to joining Joby, Lauren served as Aviation Regulatory Counsel for global instant logistics and uncrewed aircraft systems leader Zipline, and General Counsel and Director of Safety & Regulatory Affairs for general aviation trade association the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA). Lauren is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Aeronautic Association (NAA), as well as the inaugural Industry Advisory Board for the Boeing Center for Aviation and Aerospace Safety at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. In 2018, Lauren received the U.S. Federal

Aviation Administration’s Friend of Aviation Safety Award. She also served on the Women in Aviation Advisory Board, established under the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 to develop strategies and recommendations to encourage women to enter the field of aviation.

A native of New Jersey, Lauren received a B.A. in biology and political science from Tufts University and a J.D. and M.A. in philosophy (bioethics) from Duke University. She is an active instrument-rated commercial pilot and lives in Maryland with her very patient partner (also a pilot).
