For students who applied for Spring 2025 or before
At Kansas State University Salina, students aspiring to join the Professional Pilot program are initially placed under the UBATN degree code. This designation allows students to begin their academic journey while working to fulfill the specific prerequisites required for entry into the Professional Pilot program. These prerequisites are designed to ensure that students have the necessary foundational knowledge and skills to succeed in the rigorous aviation curriculum.
The UBATN code currently lists the following as required to change to the PPIL degree code:
Requirement |
Courses complete, each with a grade of B or higher: AVT 100, COMM 106, ENGL 100, MATH 100, PYSCH 110 (courses are degree requirements and pre-requisites for later courses in the curriculum) |
Overall GPA of 2.75 |
Average 3.0 GPA in aviation courses |
At least 15 credit hours taken at Kansas State University |
Completion of the Flight Training Onboarding Course. Includes personal statement, approval medical, financial plan and code of ethics |
Signed Statement of Acknowledgement |
Plan of student completed with advisor outlining degree completion date |
Once students have successfully completed the required courses and met all established criteria, their academic status is reviewed. Upon verification of their qualifications, students are officially transitioned from the UBATN degree code into the Professional Pilot degree program, where they will continue their education with a focus on advanced aviation training and industry-specific coursework. This transition marks a significant milestone in their progression toward becoming licensed professional pilots.
