Apply for Aid
Entering college is a maze of important dates and new experiences. We are here to help students and their families navigate this new journey. Prospective and incoming undergraduate students should follow the dates and steps below.
Apply for admission and K-State scholarships
New freshmen
- The priority date for K-State scholarships is December 1.
Transfer students
- Students who will start in the spring semester should apply for scholarships by December 1.
- Students who will start in the fall semester should apply for scholarships by February 1.
Apply for additional aid
Apply for Federal Financial Aid
- All students can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, as early as October 1. Students should complete the FAFSA before the K-State priority date of December 1. K-State's federal school code is 001928
Search and Apply for Private Scholarships
- Students should check with their local high school guidance counselor and utilize online resources to search for additional funding
Apply for State of Kansas Student Aid
- Kansas residents should apply for State of Kansas Student Aid by the May 1 priority date
Accept your awards
Review and Accept your Financial Aid Awards
- Students receive financial aid award notifications to their K-State e-mail. Offered assistance is then accepted or declined within KSIS. Letters are commonly sent in early spring for incoming students and late spring for continuing students
After you receive your aid
Complete All Loan Requirements
- Students who accept a Federal Direct Loan (first-time borrowers only), must complete a loan entrance counseling session and master promissory note
- Parents who accept a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan must apply for the loan, undergo a credit evaluation, and complete a master promissory note
Report Private Scholarships and Outside Funding
- All students are asked to complete and submit a Private Scholarships Form (pdf) to report private scholarships from sources other than Kansas State University
Establish Designated Access
- Students should establish Designated Access in order to grant access to individuals, such as parents, to view their financial information within the K-State Student Information System (KSIS)
Sign up for Direct Deposit of Financial Aid
- Students and/or parents may sign up for direct deposit and have any remaining financial aid directly deposited into a personal bank account
View and Pay your K-State Bill
-
In mid July, students will be able to view their K-State bill and anticipated financial aid through the Student Center in KSIS
-
Each students' bill is due by 3:00 PM on the first day of both the fall and spring academic semesters
-
Scholarships and/or financial aid are applied to students' K-State bill about 10 days before the start of each academic semester
