QC/QA Concrete Specifications/Cement Treated Base
The CIT Program provides the following methods for obtaining certification.
Course options include:
1. QC/QA Concrete Specifications/Cement Treated Base Course and Exam
Online course with exam included - course and exam are online and access is available upon registration. The course is available year round with the course period designated in your registration confirmation email and the CanvasPro course page. You must complete the course and subsequent exam(s) by the stated completion date in your confirmation email and in CanvasPro. This option is required for initial certification. The written exam can be taken and submitted one time. It can be taken at the student’s location and requires an approved proctor. Registration is necessary if a retake is needed.
Prerequisite: Pass the Basic Math exam and the Statistics exam prior to taking the online course.
2. QC/QA Concrete Specifications/Cement Treated Base Recertification Exam
The recertification option allows a person to take the written exam for recertification without attending class. This option is recommended for individuals who have at least five years experience. The exam is online and available upon registration. The exam can be taken and submitted one time. It can be taken at the student’s location and requires an approved proctor. Registration is necessary if a retake is needed.
3. In Person course
Two day course instructed in Salina, KS and written exams are administered on the last day. This option can be taken for initial certification.
Course Description
This course is an integral part of any KDOT QC/QA Concrete Specification/CTB project and is required for project managers and persons performing inspection functions on QC/QA concrete specification/CTB projects. It is also recommended for managers, testers and others directly involved with concrete pay issues.
Instructor
Rick Barezinsky, PE Rick is the Assistant Bureau Chief of Construction and Materials with the Kansas DOT where he develops, directs and coordinates the activities of Pavement Management, the Regional Labs, Specification Development, and reviews and modifies Test Procedures. He has worked for KDOT for 28 years. His previous positions include: Pavement Engineer, Field Materials Engineer, and the District One Construction and Materials Engineer. He is Kansas’ voting member for AASHTO Committee on Materials and Pavements. He worked 2.5 years with the Missouri-Kansas Chapter of the American Concrete Pavement Association as the Design Engineer. Prior to his career with KDOT, Rick served as a Civil Engineering Officer in the United States Air Force. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Kansas and Missouri. Rick and his wife, Karen, have been married for 38 years and they enjoy spending time with family and friends. |
