Usernames and passwords are set up upon account creation. If you have forgotten your password or need help setting up an account, please contact the program office at profed@k-state.edu.
Companies sending multiple people to courses can create a company account and add employees under the main account for registration.
Payment is required at the time of registration for courses and exams. Credit cards are the only accepted payment method. The program fee includes all program materials and use of laboratory equipment during exam days.
All registrations are on a first come-first served basis.
It is the responsibility of the participant to confirm they have registered and review their confirmation email for course access/location information, times, dates and other details. Instructions on how to check this in the registration system can be found here.
Registration Deadline
The registration deadline is 7 business days prior to the exam start date. The registration fee must be paid at the time of registering. Failure to pay when registering will result in your registration not being confirmed and will be automatically cancelled.
The registration deadline will be enforced to ensure processing of participants in the KDOT learning management system. Processing of participants in the LMS is required both before and after the exam for certification. This includes manual verification of each individual. Late registrations and substitutions cannot be permitted due to this processing lead time.
Payment, Cancellations, Refunds, and Substitutions
Payment is due at time of registration.
Online courses with the exam included do not permit refunds or substitutions. Individuals have access to the online course and exam from registering until the end of the season in June and can complete the course and exam as their schedule permits.
Recertification exams that are available on demand do not permit refunds or substitutions. Individuals have access to the online exam from registering until the end of the season in June and can complete the exam as their schedule permits.
In person courses and quiz outs may be canceled and issued a refund (less a $21 processing fee) if the exam day is cancelled 7 business days prior to exam day start date. After this deadline, no refunds will be issued for cancelling an exam day. In the case of extenuating circumstances (see below), exceptions to the cancel/refund policy may be made on a case-by-case basis. Failure on the part of the participant or company to notify Professional Education and Outreach of a decision to cancel an exam day does not equate to an automatic refund.
In the case of extenuating circumstances (see below), exceptions to the cancel/refund policy may be made on a case-by-case basis. Examples of acceptable extenuating circumstances include:
- Unforeseen medical incapacitation or physical or mental illness that significantly impacted the ability to continue participating in the course

Do not use Internet Explorer due to incompatibility of the browser and test software. No electronics, including cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, smart glasses, etc. are allowed by the test taker. Multiple monitors are permitted. The exam workbook can be printed or viewed on a 2nd monitor. The proctor will review the workbook to ensure compliance with this manual. Calculators are permitted provided they are not programmable calculators.
Proctoring Policy
Online exams completed at the participant’s location require an exam proctor. While taking the exam, the student must have a proctor physically present (someone monitoring the exam that is not the test taker). All companies and organizations must have a registered proctor for CIT which will include registration and completing a proctor quiz. Individuals needing to register as a proctor and take the proctor quiz can do so here.
- Approximately 1 week after the proctor quiz has been completed, the proctor will receive an email containing information needed for exam day, including the proctor access code.
- On exam day, the proctor will need to enter their unique proctor access code. The student will not be able to access the exam without their proctor present and entering the code.
- Written exams paired with a performance exam and held in Salina are proctored by the instructor.
Proctors must be registered and complete the proctor quiz at least 1 week prior to someone taking the exam. The proctor will be required to complete the Proctor Agreement which includes providing their name and will be contacted if there are any discrepancies with the participant’s exam. Proctors not registered and who have not completed the proctor quiz prior to the exam registration deadline are not permissible.
Individuals serving as a proctor are not allowed to complete the same exam on the same day they proctored. Proctors completing an exam as a student the same day as serving as a proctor will be disqualified and be held to the following consequences.
CIT Proctor Regulations Summary
- Be an approved registered proctor who has completed the proctor quiz.
- Must be physically present at all times while the student is taking the exam.
- Will need to enter a unique exam code for the test taker and sign (type) their name
- Not allowed to complete the same exam on the same day they proctored
- Review all reference materials to be used by the student
- Ensure no unauthorized materials are used
Should any of these proctoring policies be violated or if any dishonesty from the proctor or student is identified, the following consequences will be strictly enforced:
- The student will receive an automatic failure on the exam in question.
- Student must reschedule and repay for next available exam date as an exam retake. K-State will not transfer registrations or payments.
- The proctor will be removed as an approved proctor and the company or organization must submit in writing plan to identify a new proctor and ensure no violations will happen again.
- An investigation will be initiated into the incident and may result in decertification of the student and failure of all exams that have been administered by the proctor.
