Trauma Tools: Brain Development, Trauma and Emotion Regulation Tools for Helping Professionals
As a helping professional today, it is critical to understand how trauma in childhood disrupts key areas of brain development. Using a brain-integrative approach, participants in this workshop will learn specific techniques to self-regulate and co-regulate the affective state both themselves and others. Being able to identify which part of the brain a person is functioning from is a necessary first step in effectively assisting them in regaining access to higher processing areas of the brain. Both the helping professional and the people they serve will benefit from having a responsive and regulated nervous system to better accomplish the goals of treatment.
Attendees may use this course to meet 3 hours of general continuing education units. Kansas State University is a pre-approved continuing education provider approved by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board. Provider number 15-005.
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Describe the impact of early toxic stress on the developing brain
- Identify which part of the brain a person is functioning from
- Learn emotion regulation skills for self-regulation and co-regulation
This course is offered both in person or live online. You may choose your modality on the registration form.
