sUAS Commercial Remote Pilot Training in Iowa
Become a professional UAS pilot with this introductory course. This three day, classroom based course covers all aspects related to UAS operation and safety considerations. Attendees will become prepared to take the FAA Unmanned Aircraft General knowledge exam. Passing the FAA knowledge exam allows the individual to apply for a Remote Pilot Certificate.
In addition to three days of classroom instruction, a night operation demonstration will be held on the evening of day two. Learn about how to prepare for night operations, equipment requirements, and mission planning considerations.
This training in Nevada, Iowa is hosted in collaboration with the Story County Sheriff’s Office.
What to Expect

Instruction is tailored to cover 14 CFR Part 107, the FAA Regulation governing commercial Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems, or sUAS. Also known as the Small UAS rule, Part 107 outlines the requirements for small UAS pilots operating UAS for work or business purposes, including obtaining a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA.
Course Details
The course will be held March 31-April 2, 2021 in Nevada, IA.
The course is held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. over three days. The night operation demonstration will begin at 7 p.m. on day two.
Registration is required a minimum of one week before the course start date.
Course fee is $850 and includes all instruction, copies of course materials and notes, sectional map, daily lunch and refreshments. Travel and lodging are not included in the registration fee and are the responsibility of the attendee. The FAA exam is not included in the course, directions will be given on how to register for the exam.
