Flying at Salina (SLN)

Situated at the Salina Regional Airport, our aviation program provides students with a 12,300-foot runway - one of the longest in the country - as their training facility. The property is also home to crosswind and parallel runways.

K-State flight students also utilize a premium fleet of 20+ aircraft and flight training devices. Learn more below:

The Cessna 172 has proven to be one of the most versatile, reliable and safest training aircraft and is a great aircraft for students to begin their private pilot flight training.

Piper Seminole plane image

Students at K-State Salina complete their Multi-Engine Flight training in the 360-horsepower (two 180-HP engines) Piper Seminole.

Super Decathlon plane image

Students at Kansas State University Salina have the option of completing a course which teaches them the right way to handle extreme conditions in an upset recovery course.

Redbird flight training simulator image

The Redbird simulator allows students to train in any environment, such as mountains, inclement weather, various airfields/airports, etc.

Our L3 Harris Technologies flight training devices, commonly known as simulators, feature both a full trainer (FTD) and two flat-panel trainers (EFPTs).
