Great Plains Manufacturing Scholars Program

Enhance your education with real-world, industry-specific training and get to your full-time career faster. With this scholarship, many students will earn their degree with little or no student debt.

The Great Plains Scholars Program is a one-of-a-kind scholarship that helps students earn a bachelor's degree from one of K-State Salina's engineering technology programs. Students will gain first-hand exposure to specialized industry technology, including line assembly, robotic weld automation centers and more. By completing the Scholars Program, students will have earned over 2,400 hours of relevant, professional manufacturing experience and their degree!

Earn your degree in 3 years

With the GPM Scholars Program's year-round courses, students can save time and money by earning a bachelor's degree in as little as 3 years. This allows you to be better prepared to enter the industry and start your career quicker.

Earn while you learn

The GPM Scholars Program allows students to work part-time at Great Plains Manufacturing in Salina, Kansas (20 hours per week) with pay. This helps you to gain valuable on-the-job industry experience while also completing your bachelor's degree.

A degree with little to no debt

Students receive an annual scholarship covering 85% or more of the in-state tuition rate with the GPM Scholars Program, making college more affordable and no worries of post-graduation debt.

Eligible degree programs:

Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology
This degree features hands-on learning in electronic circuits, instrumentation and computing systems.

Mechanical Engineering Technology
This degree features hands-on learning built on concepts that can be directly applied to product design and manufacturing.

Robotics & Automation Engineering Technology
This degree features hands-on learning that designs, builds and controls the movements and actions of robots and automated systems.

How does this partnership support the University and Campus Mission?

This program is one of the ways Kansas State University is defining how the next generation of land-grant universities can be accessible. Additionally, one of K-State Salina's 2030 initiatives is to reduce student debt by 50 percent, while not diluting the quality of their education, with this scholarship many students will earn their degree with little or no student debt. This opportunity enhances student's education with real-world, industry-specific training and gets them to a full-time career faster. Corporate partnerships like this one help reduce the cost of education for students, supports the next generation of the workforce and strengths economic development in Kansas.
